Yee--Haw!

We just got back home from a great weekend of my very first rodeo and than the zoo. To be honest I was a tad bit surprised on how much I would enjoy the festivities at a rodeo. Actually time seemed to fly by. I seen calf roping, barrel racing, and even bull riding. It really was a great time!

The rodeo clowns sure did their jobs. I laughed and laughed. They did keep the crowd involved, informed (a little mishap and the rodeo lost power for thirty minutes) and entertained.

These men and women were getting bucked around on horses and bulls, some stayed on and some fell off in a split second. These cowboys were roping cattle in less than five seconds or so it seemed. One thing I am not so sure about is how they got scored but lets say I will be going back to another rodeo.

I've been to Omaha zoo countless times but wouldn't turn down the opportunity to go again! It's been, oh five or six years I'd say since I have went to that specific zoo. I do have to say they have made some good additions since I have last been there. My "old" favorite's are the jungle, aquarium, and giraffes.

The jungle seems to amaze me! You walk through and see waterfalls, monkeys, exotic birds...and they are not 'caged'.

The aquarium has me in awe! You walk through a long tunnel with fish, sharks, and stingrays swimming on both sides and right over head.

Now I didn't forget about the giraffes--they are just my favorite. What a truly beautiful animal.

Obviously there were much more things that were loads of fun. For example the IMAX theatre which showed a 3D movie about "Under the Sea". Definitely had a better quality 3D than the local theatre. The glasses were absolutely hilarious. I looked like some sort of bug or grasshopper or maybe an extra in Miami Vice!

The old steam engine train was a must ride. The train looped around the zoo which not only showed lots of the animals but it got me off my sore feet for about forty-minutes.

Now with some of the "new" exhibits they had the butterfly house, sky lift, and well I guess the desert; I have been to that the last time but it was worth the mention.

I love butterflies. I think they are truly incredible creatures. What else turns from a hairy caterpillar to a flying colorful butterfly? I was really excited till I read the sign "butterfly and insects"! After getting in you step in to a secure double doored area in which an employee explains the rules and lets you enter while the first door is shut. There were butterflies of all sorts of colors landing everywhere. It was beautiful till you get to the 'insect' section which had a sign that said "don't forgot to look above in the golden webs to see the spiders". OH MY GOSH! I got the heebie-jeebies! Let's say that section moved 'quickly'.

The sky lift is just as it says--a lift like a ski lift that takes you OVER the zoo. I wanted to ride it but the line was extremely long and the train seemed equally fun!

I highly suggest everyone to make it to Omaha at least once to visit the zoo!
